It was on April 1, 1985 that Greater Illinois Title Company (GIT), a new full service title agency, opened its doors for business with offices in downtown Chicago and Wheaton. Founded twenty years ago, Greater Illinois Title began operations with nine people making a commitment to outstanding service and started doing business with the hopes and dreams of becoming a viable company in the highly competitive Chicagoland title insurance market. As the company marks its 20th anniversary, it has firmly established itself as a market leader and today is the largest title agency in Illinois and one of the largest title agencies in the country.

GIT's operating philosophy has stressed responding quickly to changes in the market. It has firmly established itself with a sizable share of the title insurance market in the residential, commercial and new construction market segments. In addition, the company has been recognized by Chicago Title Insurance Company for outstanding performance and has been named for four consecutive years to the FNF Chairman's Roundtable for its performance, discipline and focus.

Since 1985, GIT has been providing the Chicago area with an innovative range of title insurance, escrow closing and real estate information services. Through its network affiliations, the company can handle any transaction within the state of Illinois and throughout the United States. This includes 1031 exchanges facilitated through Greater Illinois Tax Deferred Exchange Corporation and multi-site /multi-state commercial and construction transactions. In recent years, the company has closed a variety of new construction, condominium development and new subdivision projects in addition to an expanding portfolio of signature commercial projects and other high profile transactions.
